Welcome to Way2Go

Way2Go is helping people in the Nelson Tasman Region to be more active and have more fun.

Marty's Moment

marty.jpg.JPG For activities in your area, go to your nearest hub page or look at the calendar to see all the programmes running across our region making exercise simply irresistible.

We are growing...

There’s a new hub in Wakefield and new programmes in a number of existing Hubs.

There are so many success stories coming through from all the Hubs.

Could you be the next one?

It's important we run programmes that meet each community's needs, so we want to hear from you.

If you want to do it, we¹ll try to organise it.

Get in touch with your nearest hub and have fun out there.

High Five to...Tylor

Tylor_McLeodsml.jpg

Hip hop dancing gave year 9 student, Tylor McLeod, a real boost in self-confidence, and he's become a pretty good mover too. Because Tylor's pretty good on the ‘technical stuff', his teacher asked him to help with her dance classes after school. He began helping to set up the sound system, and control the music when she was busy teaching. It wasn't long before he was lending a hand with the younger group and their warm-up games. Pretty soon he was having a go at some of the new moves the older group were learning, and before he knew it, Tylor was a fully-fledged dance student. He listened carefully and worked hard during practices. In Murchison Area School's 2009  concert, Tylor performed on stage with his dance crew for the first time, in front of 200 people, and did a brilliant job.

High Five to... Gertie

gertie.jpgAge, location or lack of mobility isn’t going to stop Gertie Oxnam from keeping active.

At an early age Gertie enjoyed sports - playing hockey, tennis, running sports, bowls and golf.

But at 91 she doesn’t get around as well as she used to, and now relies on her stroller.

Gertie was keen to join the senior ‘Sit and be Fit’ class in Murchison, so Way2Go coordinator, Berylla Jones arranged the class for a time that suited her and organised a ride to the venue, although Gertie has walked the half a kilometre from her home when no one picked her up!

Gertie gets great pleasure from her sit down exercise classes and says: “Please keep up the good work.”
